Avenir Prep was founded on a shared belief that meaningful achievements and strong performance are built over time. Achieving these goals requires the right combination of wellness, strategic preparation, and a disciplined approach. Drawing on decades of experience in the classroom, the emergency room, and the boardroom, we guide students in making thoughtful decisions about how they spend their time, what challenges they take on, and how they prepare for them. The result is not a collection of activities, but a coherent, authentic path built over time - one that leads to meaningful achievements, students who are more balanced and happy, and the kinds of outcomes that open doors at the highest levels.
Meet the Experts
We work closely with students and families, bringing experience, strategic guidance, and a focus on wellness to each step.
Alex comes to Avenir Prep with a strategic and disciplined perspective shaped by decades of experience in business development, product innovation, and venture building.
He earned his MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Alex has held senior leadership roles at Mastercard, First Data, and Aura, where he led strategic initiatives focused on identifying opportunities, building high-impact partnerships, and guiding complex decisions that drive long-term growth.
Alex has also spent years as a coach and mentor, working closely with students across a range of academic disciplines and competitions. His students have earned multiple top national awards in competitions including the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), National History Day, Speech and Debate, First Robotics, DECA, and Latin/Certamen. He focuses on developing students’ knowledge, skills, and competitive performance over time.
At Avenir Prep, Alex helps families make thoughtful, strategic decisions about academics, competitions, and projects, ensuring that each student builds a clear, authentic, and differentiated path.

Ron brings a unique dual perspective to Avenir Prep, combining a career in emergency medicine with decades of experience coaching students at the highest levels of academic competition, academic mentoring, and admissions preparation.

He earned his AB in Classics from Princeton University, where he also earned a teaching certificate, and his MD from Northwestern University Medical School, now Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Ron has worked with students for over 30 years across a wide range of subjects, including Latin, standardized test preparation, math, science, college admissions strategy, and medical school admissions consulting.
As a board-certified emergency physician, Ron has spent over two decades making critical decisions under pressure, developing a calm, structured approach to performance in high-stakes environments.

In the Latin world, Ron is a member of the National Junior Classical League Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach, having led teams to multiple national championships. This experience extends beyond competition and informs his work with students more broadly. Through his work with students, he has helped guide them to success at the highest levels of academic competition and admission to highly selective colleges.

Ron is also uniquely positioned to mentor students who aspire to careers in medicine. From helping middle and high school students explore healthcare careers and build strong academic foundations, to advising college students as they prepare for medical school, he brings a perspective that is difficult to replicate, as he is both a practicing emergency physician and a nationally recognized educator and coach. In recognition of this work, Ron was recently invited to speak to Princeton University students through the University’s pre-med advising program.

His approach emphasizes authentic storytelling, thoughtful preparation, strategic decision making, and helping students present the strongest and most genuine version of themselves throughout the admissions process.

Dr. Generosa Sangco-Jackson
Generosa brings more than twenty years of experience in education, academic competitions, admissions, and student development to Avenir Prep.

She earned her Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Florida and her Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where her work focused on student development and the future of American higher education.

Generosa spent much of her career building and leading a nationally recognized Classics program. As a teacher and coach, she led teams to national championships and guided students to consistent accolades and elected leadership positions.

Her admissions experience spans both secondary and graduate education. As Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions for a Doctor of Pharmacy program, Generosa managed the full enrollment process and helped the program meet enrollment goals in a challenging national market. As a college counselor, she has guided students through countless college applications with many being admitted to their first-choice schools and earning tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships.

At Avenir Prep, Generosa helps students approach ambitious academic goals with rigor, confidence, and consistency. As a first-generation college student herself, she believes that strong performance comes from combining demanding preparation with thoughtful mentorship, helping students learn to think clearly, work steadily, and trust the preparation they have built over time.

Sophia Moreira
Sophia brings extensive teaching experience and a diverse academic background grounded in competitions to Avenir Prep.
She earned a B.A.S in Mathematics (60 Series, with Honors) and Classics (Latin focus) from Stanford University. Her honors thesis in complexity theory expanded the equivalence of space and time under a computational model on a closed timelike curve. Beyond complexity theory, her academic interests include real analysis, Certamen, and poetry. Even as a student, Sophia’s remarkable skill as a teacher was highly valued amongst peers and professors; to this day, Sophia’s video proof of the Central Limit Theorem remains available on Stanford’s CS109 website.
After university, Sophia worked at Art of Problem Solving on the math curriculum development team and later as an associate director of their Morrisville campus. Since then, she has worked as a 1-on-1 private tutor helping students boost their scores on AMC/AIME/USAJMO/USAMO. Additionally, she teaches computer science with a focus on the Bronze and Silver divisions of the USA Computing Olympiad (as well as ACSL for elementary students). Sophia has taught over 20 competitive programming courses with AlphaStar and is featured throughout their Python and Bronze curriculums.
Sophia’s classes feature a unique blend of multidisciplinary excellence, problem solving skills, creativity, and a radiant passion for learning. At Avenir Prep, Sophia helps families develop a personalized roadmap for math/computer science achievements and offers 1-on-1 private tutoring.
